As inflation takes a bite out of household budgets, many military families have difficulty stretching their food budget until their next paycheck. The Meals From The Heart FOOD BOX program helps families stretch their food budget by offering a selection of familiar and quality grocery items at no cost to them.
Proceeds provide groceries for military families through the Meals From The Heart Food Bag program.
Beyond The Yellow Ribbon has teamed up with Meals From The Heart to help Minnesota Service members and their families stretch their grocery budget. Since 2021, we have delivered over 30 tons of groceries to military families.
As prices increase at the grocery stores and inflation takes a bigger bite out of household budgets, many families, including our military families, have difficulty stretching their food budget until their next paycheck.
The USDA defines food insecurity as the lack of access, at times, to enough food for all household members. Families often make trade-offs between essential basic needs, like housing or transportation, and purchasing nutritionally adequate foods. Plus, service members often experience additional challenges due to the commitments and obligations unique to military life.
